Purpose
Since our launch in March of 2022, the team at Chicago Mahogany Foundation has worked tirelessly to promote the benefits of knowing local neighborhood history and being inclusive in the telling of that history. We believe that "history is not the past but a map of the past, drawn from a particular point of view, to be useful to the modern traveler." We are fortunate to have a team dedicated to uplifting the histories and stories that can be found in all of Chicago's neighborhoods. Our board brings their unique expertise and resources into everything we do. While there is always more that can be done, there is no doubt that we are making a significant impact. We don’t measure our success through just facts and figures, but through happy faces and heartwarming feedback. See how you can become part of the difference by contacting us or making a donation today.
Philosophy
At Chicago Mahogany Foundation, we take pride in being problem solvers who are not afraid to take risks. We believe that with boldness, creativity and heart, there is nothing we can’t accomplish. Our philosophy is that of the world-famous Chicago architect Daniel Burnham; "Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men's blood and probably will not themselves be realized. Make big plans, aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will never die, but long after we are gone will be a living thing, asserting itself with ever growing insistency." Each and every one of us has the capability to contribute no matter their experience or background. At Chicago Mahogany Foundation we believe that Everything Dope About American Comes from Chicago, the greatest city of earth.
