Our Historian
Through the power of storytelling, Dilla is helping to change the narrative locally and nationally about Chicago's value to the world. He has been named 2022 Chicago Tourism Ambassador of the Year by Choose Chicago, the city's tourism agency. He is a recipient of the prestigious Chicago Public Library Foundation's 21st Century Award and a Studs Terkel Uplifting Voices recipient. Dilla was voted 2021 best Chicago Twitter and best Chicago Tiktok pages by Chicago Reader magazine. He has presented Chicago history lessons and lectures to institutions such as the University of Chicago, LaSalle University (PA), Northwestern University, and several Chicago Community Colleges network partners. Dilla has also taught corporate groups such as Meta (Facebook), Microsoft; Google; Stork; Shriver Center of Poverty Law; & Chicago Cares. Dilla most recently represented Chicago in Amsterdam for Bloomberg's City Labs. He is a Black Chicago History Initiate Steering Committee member and a proud partner of the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Bulls, and the Chicago Fire.

Gain a better perspective of the historic south side and learn how it changed the world. From the 1st open heart surgery to Ida B. Wells-Barnett mansion there is a ton of history to be seen. And we can't forget Pilgrim Baptist Church, which is consider the birthplace of gospel music.

Pullman/Roseland
In 2015 President Barack Obama designated a Pullman as a National Monument, but a the Pullman neighborhood has been making history since the late 1800s. Come explore the neighborhood, as well as the adjacent Roseland neighborhood, which was once a stop on the underground railroad.

North Lawndale
The North Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago is nothing short of amazing. It has a history that goes back well into the mid 1800s. Home of the original Sears Tower, North Lawndale’s has a legacy that includes a rich Jewish history, as well as a legacy left by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. himself. Come see why they say the “West side is the best.”
